This was probably Troy’s favourite thing he got to witness. So evil.
That’s what love is though, right? Making your partner consume gross bugs? Yeah… something like that.
Ok team, new vlog for you today. This was SUCH a fun day, minus the bug eating incident. We managed to find Pablo Escobar’s old hideout in Tulum, which was definitely one of the coolest things we saw.
Happy to share today’s vlog with you – it was such a fun day and I love being able show you what things are REALLY like, outside the instagram post. You know?
Highly recommend trying out Kin Toh restaurant in Tulum. The venue itself was a whole experience AND the food was super delicious! Also if you want to sit in one of those fancy “nest” seats…. make sure you grab a group of friends before you go. $700 USD min spend is a pretty penny. It’s so weird that literally nobody talks about that on social media. SO many people are posting photos up the ying yang from the nests at Kin Toh but nobody mentions you can’t actually eat there without agreeing to a min spend. $700 USD was for the “worst” nest, the nicer ones only go up from there. Either way, we had a beyond fabulous time at Kin Toh. Definitely my favourite meal of the trip.
Can’t wait to talk to you again, thanks for being here!
Literally took me one full year after saying “i QUIT!” (obviously I did not give my resignation in those exact words lol but for dramatic effect let’s pretend I did) to make this video.
Even after publishing this and explaining why I left my 9 – 5 job, I feel like there is still so much left unsaid. For example, the many more “whys” that I didn’t have time to include/didn’t feel comfortable including (yet…)
There is also the question of HOW I did it. This in itself was such a major endeavour I couldn’t possibly have fit it into this video. If you want to know the “how” behind saving up enough money to be able to become comfortably self-employed, let me know. I will make it happen for you. It was just too much to put in this one.
Anyways, I asked my YouTube viewers to comment on this video telling me more about what they do for a living and who they are! I would love to know more about YOU and what you do, or wish you were doing! Feel free to leave a comment here or leave one on my youtube. I want to get to know you better 🙂
AND BY NEAT I MEAN IT WAS EPIC. Beyond epic. I can’t even believe a place like Suytun Cenote exists. Truly felt magical.
This ended up being a weird two day vlog, but I think it worked out okay as a mini weekend episode? Maybe? What u think…
ANYWHO.
I posted about this on my instagram/facebook pages yesterday but wanted to address it here too. These last few months I’ve put my focus 100% into vlogging so that I can improve my skill and make fun episodes that I want to watch with friends and family. Vlogging is super fun, and I love it the mostest. BUT, something I really want to start integrating back into Skinny Belle is more personal videos. The goal being getting to know eachother better and talk about the stuff that isn’t just sunny travel videos. You know, the messier stuff. LIFE stuff.
Sooo yeah! If you have any topic requests, slide on into my dms or comment below or email me. Whatever you like 🙂 (no subject is off limits 🙂 )
Got a new vlog for you, and this time we checked out some Mayan Ruins in Tulum. These were so gorgeous and I loveddddd how we had the whole place to ourself! There is nothing worse (imo) than going sight seeing in a huge crowd of tourists. So pro tip, if you are planning a visit to the Tulum Ruins you can pay more (80 pesos during regular hours, 240 pesos before/after regular hours) to go inside the ruins BEFORE or AFTER hours and it’s TOTALLY worth it!
Anyways, sitting here in my favourite coffee shop in Tulum writing to you. The wifi in our AirBnb is a bit slow and it takes about 3 hours to upload there whereas here in takes 10 minutes. Plus I get to consume even MORE caffeine. Win win if you ask me.
One thing that has been a challenge throughout these last few months traveling is eating vegetarian/vegan. I like to try and have 80% of my diet be plant based. But I’ve been finding in places like Costa Rica and Mexico there are limited options plant-based protein options. Considering making a video on this and how I am managing it soon. If you are interested in something like that, feel free to slide on into my dms and lmk.
Just rented a car for some adventuring that is going down this weekend, so I’m going to go meet up with Troy now to get us some wheeeels!
Turns out, being in a Canadian/American relationship isn’t the easiest thing ever. There are some challenges that are a bit more out of my control than I’d like to admit.
Today’s video covers my relationship, why I am always traveling, marriage… all the real for realz stuff.
This video is also a bit different than most of the vlogs I’ve been filming lately. Feels like it has been a while since we’ve just sat and chatted, so wanted to try this new style of video so we can hopefully get to know eachother better :). It can be a wee bit hard to connect when I am out and about adventuring and vlogging!
So yeah, if you liked this style of video please leave a comment and let me know!
I feel like they’ve figured out my aesthetic (and every other millennial’s.) Cute, pretend rustic, healthy organic food, and mezcal cocktails up the ying yang. This is the place to be in Mexico, that is for damn sure.
Made the worlds shortest vlog the other day at the beach, mostly because we were just getting festive all day long and not doing too much of anything. Recorded anyways, because I want to share it all. 🙂
One thing that kind of sucks rn in Tulum is the mass amounts of seaweed washing in. The seaweed has turned the normally crystal clear water dark red. It kind of looks like blood and low key creeps me out. Also I tried to swim in it (cuz im desperate like that) and the bugs were ABUNDANT so I bailed on that real quick.
But other than the bugged up seaweeded up water, was V impressed with the beach in Tulum.
This was our first day visiting it as our Airbnb is about a 20 min cab ride from the area. (more on this later.)
Having the best time here so far and eating as many tacos as I can stuff in my face without getting sick. For real though….
Mexican tacos IN MEXICO are next level amazing. And finally some actual spice! Sometimes Mexican restaurants in Canada/United States have “Canadian” or “American” salsas, that go easy on the heat. I WANT ALL THE SPICE.
all of it.
SO yeah. Ya girl is a happy camper.
Next vlog will show off more of actual Tulum, we’ll be going to the beach and hanging there! Stay tuned 🙂
Ok so turns out, pulling an all-nighter at age 27 is NOT THE SAME as pulling an all-nighter at 20. This is something new I discovered this week. When I, being the smarty pants I am, decided to fly to Tulum on no sleep (like, literally didn’t sleep the entire night) it was the roughest day I’ve had in a while.
At age 20 when I would not sleep one night, the next day I just wouldn’t feel so great. At 27, you can SEE IT IN MY FACE. Everything hurt, I looked wrong (yes, just wrong) and I think I am fighting a cold because of it.
Oh the joys of getting older.
Regardless of my sleep deprivation, I decided to vlog my trip from Vancouver –> Tulum anyways. And yeah… the video above is what we got lol!
Plus I added in a little AirBnb tour from Tulum, so you can see where we are staying. There will be more in upcoming vlogs, I was pretty out of it this entire video so it wasn’t exactly the most organized lol!
