Lol. It snowed. And it was even more hilarious than could ever be imagined. See all those MOUNDS of treacherous snow and dangerous conditions around me? Yup. Things got crazy this week in Vancouver. The city saw an entire 1 inch of snow on Monday and totally lost their marbles. And I drank in every second of it. Pure. Gold.

In light of my previous holiday party themed post, I wanted to continue the trend with a slightly edgier look. A velvet pant suit made for the nastiest of women. This is a great option to grab for a holiday party if you are in a slightly more badass mood than a dress will do justice. (Also ode to my girl Hillary, you worked those pantsuits!! We all hated it at first, but now I have seen the light.) Do you also dress for your mood? I do. If you see me with black nails (basically all the time these days) I am feeling like a bad betch who can’t be stopped. Seriously though… anybody else do this? hahah ?

Anyways I am stoked on this pantsuit right now, and am feeling very Hillary Clinton in it. Nasty woman to the core.

Okay that’s enough babbling from me for one day. Enjoy your Thursday!

HOLIDAY LOOK

Outfits

Dress: WAYF / Shoes: vintage / Choker: Brandy Melville

Went out during a 30 second break in the rain to shoot this outfit, and alas, it started pouringgggg rain literally the second I was outside. So this was the only photo I could get before it got super dark from rain clouds again ?

BUT, December is here and you know what THAT means… it’s time to get FESTIVE! Holiday parties, treats, and… well… mostly treats.? December is one of my favourite months of the year. I love how the city lights up with little twinkly lights everywhere and it is all cozy. There is a potential chance of snow, which is always hilarious in Vancouver because the entire city loses it’s shit. Nobody can drive, schools close, and the national guard is brought in (this actually happened one time in Ottawa and I doubt the nation will ever forget it hahah.) Absolute mayhem. It’s great.

Since December is upon us, it is officially holiday dress season! The other day I happened upon this gorgeous wrap dress at Nordstrom. Wrap dresses are a favourite of mine, because they are super flattering and bring out them currrvvessss. All about it. Only had a few of these left when I went in, so tried to find it online for you guys but it’s not on their website 🙁

Today I am prepping for a weekend of skiing up in the mountains! So excited I can hardly contain myself ? And with that, happy Friday everybody!

Talk soon.

A much needed weekend away from the rain

Oh boyyyy has it ever been quiet here lately… HELLO FRIENDS! I have emerged from hibernation and am rejoining the human race. Seriously, those of you who live in Vancouver know exactly what I am talking about. It has rained almost EVERY SINGLE FREAKING DAY for the last two months. Every. God. Damn. Day. Saying that I have been hibernating is almost an understatement. But anyways, this weather-induced madness had to stop. So I took a few days and got my butt out and had the best time ever. ?

Lets start with my mini ski vacation. Spent 2 days skiing up in Whistler in 40 cm of fresh powder. This is the first two days the mountain has been open people, so this is big news. It was absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to go again. Would you guys want to see some ski pics here soon? Let me know –> commentzzz!

After a good few days of skiing I got up at 3 am in Whistler and drove to the airport for an 8 am flight to Austin, Texas. As you can imagine I was extremely chipper and looked fabulously well rested upon arrival at the airport. In reality, I scarfed down a Timmy-Hoes bagel/coffee and crashed on the plane for 6 hours haha. Though the trip getting to Texas was a bit hectic and sleep deprived, Austin was SO great this weekend… it was warm and sunny compared to Vancouver. I even had to take off my sweater at brunch because I was TOO HOT. That is right, too hot. (If you live in Canada right now, this is a big deal.)

Okay that’s it for my little update today! Hope you are all doing great, wherever you are in the world :). My little spot on the internet has not been given the love it deserves from me these days, so thanks for still hanging out! Looking forward to sharing some cool stuff with ya’ll soon. ?

What have I been up to lately? Straight hermiting. All I want to do these days is stay cozied up inside and watch Gilmore Girls. Anyone else watching?? TOTALLY ADDICTED. I have set a personal challenge (aim high, friends) to crush through all 7 seasons before the new episodes launch in the end of November. This started 3 weeks ago and I have successfully binged my way through the first 5 seasons. Not sure if I am ashamed, impressed, or just overall shocked by myself. Honestly I rarely watch tv, if ever, but Gilmore Girls has me RIPPING through episodes. It’s like a sickness, some sort of Stars Hollow induced disease. The only cure? FINISH THEM. Every last episode. Then I can be done and never have to watch again. Oh and by the way, I am like 16 years late on the whole Gilmore Girls thing. I am brutally aware that everyone else watched this show at a normal pace in the early 2000s, but alas, I have only discovered it now. Better late than never?

Managed to rip myself away from Netflix for long enough to hit up brunch in my gorrrrgeous new leather jacket from Bernardo! Leather jackets are the perfect piece for fall. Just enough warmth, and great for layering. If it is possible to feel actual love a clothing item, oh baby do I feel it for this coat.

Another thing I managed to do once I shut down Gilmore Girls for a few hours? THE SEPHORA VIB SALE. Yes ladies, that darling little 20% off sale they have where I basically lose my marbles and buy all the makeup. Any of you partake this weekend? It was a good haul this year. My face = happy happy. Wallet? Not so happy. 😛

Okay so enough from me for one day. I seriously need to finish this series so I can get my life back. It has taken over. This is a phase… I swear………. Someone send food.

Simple look for brunch <3

This look is perfect for rolling out of bed and heading straight to brunch. Comfortable, easy, and chic. Shot these photos last weekend in LA while I was basking in the sun like a sea-lion on a hot day (<– seriously wish I was kidding haha.) Literally every moment I could I would stand there with my face pointed towards the sun (hello, wrinkles!! bad.) and just take in the warmth. Tbh it was kind of alarmingly hot for end of October. The temperature felt closer to something of July, and not “fall.” Global warming is a thing friends. #scary

Anyways, what do you think of this look? Brunch-chic, yes?

A much needed weekend in the sun 🙂

What a weekend! Could not have been happier to spend my weekend in sunny LA. It literally has been WEEKS since I have seen the sun here in Vancouver, so it was a much needed change of scenery.

The weekend started off with an AMAZING brunch at Blu Jam Cafe. Yes, the caps-lock was necessary. It is that good. I go to Blu Jam pretty much every time I am in LA because it’s so good. What to order if you are in town? My top picks are the Chilaquiles, Migas, French Toast (to-die-for), and the Blu Jam Benedict. Do it, you won’t regret it. ? I’m starving now just thinking about this again haha.

In the evening we went to The Bungalow which was totally up my kind of spot. It is designed like, well… like a bungalow. Super chill vibe, totally loved it. Recommend checking it out if you are ever in the LA area. 🙂 The night finished off with some food and drinks at The Nice Guy for some food + drinks.

Seriously so nice to get out of town for a little bit, and enjoy the beautiful California sun. Fully intend on living in there at some point in my life, I just love it so much. I could be one of those California surfer girls who is all tan and exotic. Lol except I am a ginger so that is just not happening. The tan part, that is. #realtalk

Anyways back to the reality of rain and cold in Van. But, to be honest, not that sad about it. The rain has a way of making you feel cozy at this time of year. (Disclaimer: I am probably just saying this because I spent my weekend in the sun lol.)

Creamy, rich, almost too good to be true.

Don’t get me wrong, I love to cook, but my god wouldn’t it be nice to have one of those fancy live-in chefs to make me this every morning. Be that person who wakes up and is like “sir, could you please whip me up those delectable parmesan eggs?” Obviously said in a thick British accent. Because, duh.

Anyways it would be SO GOOD to have someone there to cook you food when things get really busy. But for now, I give you another amazing simple recipe that is literally so packed with flavour I thought I was going to have a heart attack while consuming it. Or maybe that was the copious amounts of cheese…. either way. Delicious nonetheless.

This recipe is another one I have tried from Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook: Cravings. I have to say, really miss that girl’s blog. Back in the day (before she was super famous) her blog was the BEST. So honest, vulgar, and just generally amazing. Don’t get me wrong, her cookbook is great too and I love the recipes (hence the second feature on my blog), but it is missing that little bit of spunk that she had in her blog writing. Ok it was a lot of spunk, and a lot of f-bombs. But it was great. So Chrissy if you are reading this, come back to us!! 😛

Ok ok enough rambling. Recipe time. **This recipe is not straight from Chrissy’s book, I modified it 🙂

Here we go.

Ingreds:

  • 1 cup finely grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp finely chopped parsley
  • 1/2 tsp fine ground sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper + more to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 eggs

Step 1: In a medium bowl, whisk together parm, cream, parsley, salt, and pepper.

Step 2: Either use two 6-inch skillets or one large skillet, and heat 1-2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the cream mixture and let it bubble all the way through for about 1 – 2 minutes.

Step 3: Crack your eggs in the pan and let them cook until the egg whites are set and the yolks still runny (uhgggg, can you say #foodporn?) This should take 2 – 3 mins.

Step 4: Season that mouth-watering pan with more salt, pepper, and parmesan and grab a french baguette and DIG IN. Don’t bother taking this out of the pan, because, flavour.

Anywho, this is what is happening in my kitchen this morning? Come over and help me clean up? Please? Someone? ? I am legit the worst for this, love to do all the creating and mess making, but not the cleaning up. Maybe I should trade that imaginary chef in for a real-life cleaner. This could be a much better plan. Hmmmm….

Haha hope you enjoy this recipe! I know I did. ☺️

Fall is such a short time period here in British Columbia, but when the leaves start changing and turn all yellow, orange, and red I just can’t get enough. Legit walked around all weekend saying “look look! It’s so beauuuuutiful.” Enjoying this gorgeous weather while it lasts! Because soon, it will be just rain, rain, and more rain. Bleh.

Outfit is all from Free People, I was feeling like being super comfy this weekend so an oversized knit was definitely my top choice. Shoes I got from Vans, and I am totally feeling the sneakers vibe these days! Casual but cute, love it.

Andddddd I’m back with the black-on-black. Except this time I went crazy and added a splash of red with this little neck tie (just wild.) Which for the record — I am obsessed with these days. I have been wearing neck ties basically every day, and am beginning to think I have some sort of problem. They just make every outfit look so damn cute! Cant help myself.?

Other things I am all about this fall? Oversized coats and sweaters. We are talking WAY oversized here. So you can expect to see a lot more of that too.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Hope you guys have a good day 🙂

PROSCIUTTO CRISPS

Food

Quick, easy, and looks fancy. ?

Seriously though. These are so easy and your friends will think you are a big fancy chef because you stacked some stuff on a small piece of toast. If we are being real that is what this “recipe” is. Hehe (insert devil emoji.)

Anyways, if you want to be full of trickery like me and pretend to be fancy, here is what you need to make these delicious little appetizer bites.

  • Baguette, cut into thin slices and LIGHTLY toasted
  • Prune spread (available at Whole Foods)
  • Thin slice of asiago cheese
  • Prosciutto
  • Thin green onions

Uhg so good. If I am being totally honest here, I just made these and ate them all by myself. Because, #blogging. ? My suggestion is you do the same, because they might just be too good to share.
