EFFICIENCY QUEENS

Lifestyle

Oh myyyy lawwwwwd is this post overdue! I cannot believe I haven’t written about this yet. Efficiency. SNOOOZEEEE… BORING! *You say.* I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you, because being efficient is probably the best skill of all time. WHY?? Well, because then you have time to fill your life with all the fabulous things you want in it!

There is a reason in lots of my food posts I talk about how quick and easy a meal is. Because I am the efficiency queen! ***Disclaimer: this is totally self proclaimed… just let me have it.. okay? haha 😛

When you are more efficient with your time, you can do all the things you want to do. Suddenly you will have time to see all your besties (because, we alllll need to see our besties on a regular basis! It is basically free therapy + the cost of wine LOL.) That hobby you wanted to take up? DONE. Want to get your Skinny Belle workout in? EASY. You now have time to do whatever your heart desires.

I am all about getting things done and not letting them dribble along so that I can get to my favourite things in life.

Another reason being efficient with our time is the BEST is because it will make us all queens. (Side note: I am over being a “boss.” I have officially decided that being a queen is far superior.) If you are efficient with your life and the things you wish to have in it, you will find yourself achieving all your goals faster than your ever thought possible. Is that the right path to being a queen? Yes. Yes it is.

Okay okay so enough of my blabber. Now that I have told you that being efficient will make you a queen, as well as make time for all your favourite things… HOW DO YOU DO IT?!

Here’s the skinny:

  • Write it down!!! I like to make a “to do” list every night before I go to bed for the next day. This way, I can mentally be prepping myself for all the awesomeness I am about to fill my next day with.
  • Take writing it down a step further… schedule your day! By this I mean write down about what time you will do each task throughout the day, and stick to it! If something is taking wayyy longer than necessary just move along and come back to it later.
  • Get enough sleep! (<– post coming on this soon) Seriously this is so important. I am literally the worst when I don’t get enough sleep. So unproductive and just generally a grumpy-pants lol.
  • Find the time of the day when you are typically the most productive, and capitalize on this! (<– business school moment lol.) For me, this is first thing in the morning. I am a freaking rockstar queen in the mornings! Come night time… things get super sketchy for me haha. I tried to send an email last night and I cant be sure if it actually made any sense…

Those are my favourite tips for being productive, and eventually becoming a queen of life.

So now, I want to hear from you guys! Do you want to see more posts like this one? What are your fave kind of posts I do?! Telll meee! I love to hear your feedback, so throw a comment in the comment box below. <3

TOP 5 REASONS TO EAT BREAKFAST

Lifestyle

Breakfast-2

Breakfast-3

Breakfast-1

Breakfast is by FAR the best meal of the day. Sometimes when I go to bed at night I am thinking about how excited I am for it to be morning so it can be breakfast time again. No, I am not kidding haha.

Why do I like eating breakfast so much? First off, there are SO many amazing things you can eat for breakfast, for example: Breakfast Cake, Skinny Granola, or Pumpkin Pie Granola. Second, eating breakfast is a great way to make sure you are staying in the best shape possible. There are so many health benefits to eating breakfast it’s actually ridiculous! Now, what exactly are these mysterious health benefits?

Here’s the skinny:

  • Eating breakfast controls your hunger later in the day, and reduces your chances of unnecessary overeating!
  • Breakfast is associated with improved cognitive function (especially memory.) Who doesn’t want to be a smarty-pants! Gotta build our empires, right?!
  • Your mood will be improved significantly! The happiest women are the most beautiful women. 🙂
  • Having a morning meal also helps with weight loss. It will reduce excess snacking later in the day.
  • And lastly, breakfast improves your strength and endurance (AKA you will have more energy to workout!!) After breakfast give the Sexy Booty & Legs Workout a try and see the difference in energy you have!

Now that you know allll about why breakfast is so fab, I will fill you in on that delicious breakfast I posted above. This was hot old-fashioned oats cooked with almond milk and my famous gingerbread spice mix (<– I will give you guys the recipe later!) I topped my oatmeal off will all the best treats. There was shredded coconut, prunes, gojji berries, mulberries, and chopped brazil nuts. Soooo delish.

What are your favourite breakfasts to eat?! Let me know in the comments 🙂

LATE NIGHT SNACKING

Lifestyle

Night-Snacking-2

Night-Snacking-1

Late night snacking is a super easy habit to slide into, and can lead to negative health effects over time… mainly excess weight gain. Late night snacking is basically any food that you consume after dinner. For me, this usually used to be when I was lurking around the fridge with the door hanging open having little bites of everything haha! I was definitely guilty of being a serious night snacker! 😛

Getting into the habit of snacking at night is a dangerous cycle. As you are chowing down on your junk food of choice (rarely is a night time snack a healthy snack) you are getting fuller and fuller before bed. When you wake up in the morning, chances are you will still feel full from the night before. This will make you want to skip breakfast. Eating breakfast is soooo important for your overall health (<– post coming on this soon!) and skipping it will mess up your eating schedule. Bad news for everyone. So, how can you stop those nasty little (or big) late night snacks from happening?

Here’s the skinny:

1) Brush your teeth after dinner! This is such a simple little action but it seriously helps you think twice about reaching for the chips. This works for me mainly because I am lazy and don’t want to have to brush my teeth again (anyone else with me?! Haha)

2) Eat a good dinner. If you deny yourself during dinner time, it will just catch up with you later at night when you are reaching for the fridge doors in the wee hours of the night. So make sure you have a healthy filling dinner that wont leave you hungry an hour later.

3) Drink tea! I find drinking my favourite tea or hot water with lemon at night a great distraction from mindless snacking. The warm drink will satisfy you and keep your hands busy so you aren’t looking to grab some junk food.

4) Do something at night OTHER than watching TV. Watching TV at night can be a major snacking trigger. It is an un-engaging activity and many people find themselves craving treats while watching their favourite show. Try reading a book or doing another hobby you enjoy at night. It will keep you distracted and be way more enriching than watching TV anyways. 😛

These tips have worked great for me, and helped me stop my late night snacking habit! What do you do to avoid late night snacking? I would love to hear your tips in the comments below! <3

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you all had a fun Halloween weekend. I just had to share these photos with you that we took yesterday in Vancouver. We made the trek down to Wreck Beach to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather, and ended up seeing this unreal sunset! It is the days like these that make you realize what a beautiful city Vancouver really is. The gorgeous sunny days make up for all those rainy ones in-between haha! 😛

MIX IT UP

This look I wore a few days ago out to dinner. I love mixing up different textures of fabrics in my outfits, like the leather and jean here. It makes a super simple outfit a little bit more exciting!

My leather leggings are from Artizia in Vancouver, and they are actually SO comfortable its ridiculous. Doesn’t look like it, I know, but they are actually super comfy! This simple t-shirt is also from Aritzia. I like this t-shirt with leather leggings because it’s longer and has a nice cut on the bottom, which gives you a bit more coverage. The jean jacket is made by a brand called Tribal Jeans. I picked up this beauty in a small shop in Vancouver. This season I am super into jean jackets, and this one mayyy be making a few more appearances haha.

I feel that I should tell you about my unhealthy obsession with camo print. Why, you ask? I honestly have no idea lol. But anyways, I found this cute little clutch at American Apparel. I am so in love with it and I definitely rock this clutch way more than is socially acceptable… haha! 😛

What do you think of the different mix of fabrics? Do you have any favourite mixes you like to wear? Let me know in the comments below! <3

WINE TASTING

The other weekend I went wine tasting at Mission Hill Winery in Kelowna, BC. If I could just be a professional wine taster for the rest of my life, I would be down. I mean, how else are you supposed to know what to buy? This was a super fun way to discover a few new favorites to add to the collection.

Half of the fun of going to Mission Hill was walking around the vineyard. It was crazy beautiful, and I definitely want to go back soon. While we explored the grounds, I wore my favourite new heels from Bata (bought in Switzerland.) Wearing leather heels makes them so much more comfortable, because they tend to shape to fit your foot. Nobodyyyy (and I mean nobody) wants plastic cutting into their feet and to be limping around after 5 minutes. That’s just no fun at all. So, leather shoes are definitely the way to go haha.

This was also the perfect opportunity to wear my Zara dress which I bought in Spain for only 40 euros! It was such a good deal, and I am totally in love with anything that is long and flows. Makes me feel like a princess lol! Overall it was a super comfy outfit to wear while exploring the vineyards.
