WEEKEND LOOK

Outfits

Hey guys! So I just picked up these slip on shoes the other day from Adidas, and I am never taking them off. Like…. so in love. These shoes, ripped jeans, and a comfy sweater are my weekend go-tos. I have been lazing about in this all weekend long haha! Sometimes it is so nice to just get cozy and relax.

In other news, I have been doing lots of research lately on the best kind of supplements to take for optimal skin health. I am big on wrinkle prevention, because it is much easier to prevent a problem from happening than it is to fix a problem once it has already happened. This week I will begin to share with you more on what I do to make sure my skin is staying healthy, and how I prevent wrinkles from forming. I am pretty stoked about this subject right now so I can’t wait to share with you all! We only get one body, so we might as well treat it the best we possibly can. 🙂

Okay there is a big hockey game on soon, so I am going to go get ready to watch! The NHL playoffs are one of my favourite times of year. It is so fun to get to cheer for your city’s team. And nachos, because nachos are the best and they are usually involved when you watch a sports game. Really I am just there for the nachos. 😛

A bit of a mixed post today for you! I love to check in and keep you guys in the loop with whats going on in my world. Hope you all had a great weekend. <3

COCONUT OVERNIGHT OATS

Today I wanted to show you what most mornings look like for me…. starting with my overnight oats! This is the easiest breakfast to make, mostly because it doesn’t actually involve you making anything in the morning. Winning.

I have been totally in love with making overnight oats for a while now, mostly because they taste freaking amazing and are super simple to make. This particular recipe is one of my favourites, so it makes an appearance quite often. My Coconut Overnight Oats are a great way to kick-start your day with a clean and healthy breakfast.

What’s in it:

  • 1/2 cup whole rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • Shaved coconut (unsweetened)
  • Cinnamon
  • Fresh berries

Okay so before you go to bed, mix together equal parts of your whole rolled oats and your coconut milk in a mason jar (or just any jar with a lid.) You can add more or less coconut milk depending on how thick you like your oatmeal to be! For me, half and half is perfect. Mix in a few teaspoons of dried unsweetened coconut shavings. Add a pinch of cinnamon, and shut the lid on the jar! Shake up the mixture and put it in the fridge overnight.

While you sleep the oatmeal will soak up all the coconut and cinnamon flavour. What you will be left with is a delectable, creamy, rich oatmeal breakfast. I love to eat this cold in the morning, as a nice little wake-up call. And obviously use as many fresh berries as you want for a topping, and add even more shredded coconut on top of the berries! SO GOOD. I want breakfast again now…

Sometimes (okay this is really embarrassing but I am going to tell you anyways lol) I am literally thinking when I go to sleep how damn excited I am for it to be morning so I can eat my breakfast. Yes, that is a thing that happens in my life. Haha! Anyone else do that? Or is it just me… 😛

Anyways, you guys have got to try making this if you have not already! It is fool proof and delicious. What more can a girl ask for?!

Absolutely loving sheer things lately! There is something so sexy about them. Just can’t get enough! Wearing something sheer will also be great when summer comes, and it is boiling hot out. I mean, I am talking strict functionality here people. 😛 Lol the lies I tell myself.

Anyways, I wanted to fill you guys in on something. I have been getting lots of requests lately for new workouts! Sooooo you asked, and you are going to get it! I will be shooting some new at-home workout routines for you soon. I love sharing my workouts because then we can workout together! It is always better when you have a bit of a support group going, no?! 🙂 While you wait, you can stay fit with these two Skinny Belle workouts: here, and here. So stay tuned! VANILLA SUGAR SCRUB

Happy Monday everyone! I want to share today another one of my favourite full-body and facial scrubs. You can make this super easy with just 3 ingredients you have at home! My Vanilla Sugar Scrub is ridiculously hydrating, and makes your skin feel extra smooth. If you need to give your skin a little bit of a “booster” this is the perfect thing for you!

What’s in it?

  • Extra virgin coconut oil
  • Pure vanilla extract
  • Golden sugar

Just combine about equal parts of your coconut oil and golden sugar in a bowl. Mix it up until it is smooth. I love to add a little bit of pure vanilla extract too, because it makes the scrub smell so delicious. You will want to eat it. Not going to lie (this is a judgement-free zone lol) I defs tried it and it tastes freaking awesome. So maybe don’t eat it, because its kind of hard to stop. (Sweet jesus I cannot believe I just admitted I ate my body scrub on the internet.)

Okay so what’s the skinny on coconut oil? Why do I always use it in my homemade beauty recipes?

Coconut oil sinks in deep to soften, moisturize, and condition your skin. Coconut oil is made up of saturated fats, which primarily smooth and retain the moisture content of your skin. Coconut oil also has vitamin E in it. (Yay!!!) Vitamin E is essential for skin growth, repair of wear and tear on skin, and prevents it from cracking. This is great if you have spent too much time in the sun or in harsh weather conditions. The most exciting thing that vitamin E does (in my opinion) is the prevention of wrinkles! The vitamin E contained in coconut oil is known to protect skin cells from damage over time.

Coconut oil used as a scrub is great because it removes any excess dead skin (ew, I know, but that is what exfoliating does lol) and cleans out whatever has blocked your pores. It is a 100% natural product with no added chemicals or nasty byproducts that are usually added to our over-the-counter beauty products. Coconut oil clears out the pores and has some naturally antibacterial properties too!

….. There you have it! Those are the main benefits that I wanted to highlight for you regarding the external use of coconut oil. I love the fact that it is a completely natural product, because there is something just wrong about the weird jelly-creamy-perfumey face products we buy in stores. Whenever you can, it is best to keep your beauty remedies as natural as possible!

Definitely give this scrub a try if you are feeling like your skin needs a bit of a boost or some rejuvenation. It is a full-body and facial scrub, so make lots and use it everywhere! You will feel so great after, silky smooth skin and all. 🙂

The t-shirt dress. I am all about it. They are so versatile and look cute pretty much no matter what. I picked up this oversized t-shirt dress at Oak + Fort in Vancouver. The main thing I like about it is how many different ways it can be styled. The options are limitless! I will probably do another post on this one soon showing you guys how you can style a baggy t-shirt dress more than one way. 🙂

Also…. hello 90’s!!! The chocker is back and I am stoked about it. There is something so hot about them. I don’t even know what it is but I am into it haha. The one I am wearing here was picked up at Brandy Melville. I got this one because I literally had the same one in grade 5 or something and I mean… #tbt right?! Haha! So much fun wearing this necklace. Such a great throwback.

Okay so you guys know I am a sucker for great deals. I got my bag at Danier Leather (so random, I know) at a major sale they were having. I happened to have an hour to kill at the mall and randomly went in and got this beautiful baby for like 60% off!!! Needless to say, I was a happy happy girl.

Today is Thursday, which means tomorrow is Friday… and yay weekend! What are you guys planning on doing? I will probably go skiing again (there’s a shocker lol.) Tell me in the comments what your weekend plans are! 😀
